Overview
By the end of the century, as many as 410 million people could live on land lower than 2m above sea level - and be at risk of coastal flooding as sea levels rise. Rising sea levels this century could cost as much as $5.5 trillion, according to the OECD. From China to Senegal, countries are coming up with innovations including floating cities, and sponge cities, to adapt to climate change and protect people and property from flooding.
The OceanX is the project on the development of an on-the-sea living space platform that integrates sustainable housing, green transport and renewable energy solutions and provides shared functions across development, investment and management of living spaces on the sea. It is developed and run in a model of open collaboration by a pool of investors, for profit and non-profit organizations and individuals who share the same mission - to solve the sea level rise through providing the living on-the-sea solutions.
Our Mission
To develop new living spaces for human life against the sea level rise
Pain points
The impacts of sea level rise include reduction of living land, loss of homes, loss of lives and livelihoods, loss of tourism, recreation, and transportation functions, etc. In addition, the increasing population has resulted in increased housing needs, but currently the available land for housing is decreasing. Thus, it is necessary to develop new living space and utilize the potential of water.
The OceanX project selects two pain points to solve that include i) reduction of living land; ii) loss of transportation functions at coastal and island areas.
Solution
Using accommodation as the generic approach in which all natural system effects are allowed to occur and adjusting human style of living at the coastal and island areas to adapt with the new living environment, the OceanX aims to provide living spaces on the sea to the global community based on three pillars: i) Sustainable housing solutions, ii) Green transport solutions; iii) Renewable energy solutions.

Development model
The Open Collaboration model is used as a core development principle with below key features:
Shared usage
Components in housing, transport and energy are shared to use by different service providers and customers.
Shared Investment
Components in housing, transport and energy are co-invested by different organizations in different options.
Shared Benefit
Environmental and economic benefits go together.
Operation
Sustainable housing solutions, green transport solutions and renewable energy solutions that are supplied by different businesses are integrated together in the OceanX platform through the OpenAir digital pass that allows seamless service experiences.
Partnership & Operation
OpenAir companies focus on their business lines in the OceanX including cargo and passenger transport-logistics services under the OpenAir Pass subscriptions, EV financial and operating lease in which each local OpenAir company is responsible to supply and run the green transport services in their market.
The partnership between local OpenAir companies with businesses in providing sustainable housing and renewable energy solutions is established from time to time to form a sustainable and strong housing-transport-energy development structure for OceanX in each country and region.
The OpenAir Pass services are integrated among local OpenAir companies step by step to allow seamless experience of users in the regions where OpenAir’s service is available.
